A place where everyone is welcomed and finds a homely, welcoming environment regardless of their situation or background.
Tommy MacNeil, the minister of Martins Memorial, had the vision to create a facility to encourage and bless the community of Stornoway, especially those who are facing challenging circumstances in life. After sharing it with the leaders of the church, The Shed was born. Opened in 2014, The Shed became a youth and community facility based in the town of Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis.
Through offering a wide range of services with our multi-functional facility, we aim to provide a place for anyone to come and be made to feel welcomed, and leave having feeling better than when they came. All of us face challenging circumstances in life, but none of us have to go through them alone. The Shed is available for anyone who is looking for that extra level of support for whatever they’re going through. We also have great youth programmes. From our youth clubs and drop ins, The Shed has become a popular place for many youth to come and socialise with others in their year group and interact with others without any worry of fitting in or not knowing anyone. Whatever stage of life your young person might be facing, they are more than welcome to come along to The Shed, meet our amazing team who always love to welcome new faces and become a part of the family atmosphere we have here.
We also partner with other agencies who work alongside us to assist in any way they can. We have an incredible team of volunteers who are here to meet with any to come through our doors, to simply engage with people in a safe and entertaining environment and be available to meet with anyone who comes through our doors.
